CANDYLAND
It was my BFF's Dr Seuss theme Baby Shower this weekend and I was in charge of the candy table...

This got me thinking about all the candy colored brights that are mixing together on the runaways... Loving the dynamic look of pairing two solid contrasting bright colors together for maximum impact. Bright accessories or seperates also always look great with black or camel if this vibrant look is too much for you!

LEOPARD CHAPEAU
So the weather in Los Angeles is not exactly frigid.. but I just couldn't resist this fabulous  leopard hat for wintry trips to the snow! It is a Russian trapper's hat redone in glam leopard!

My Dad and I at World Hats Mart in Pasadena with our new chapeaus!

BRIGHT BASICS
Forever 21 skirt, vintage belt,  BP shirt, Guess by Marciano denim jacket, JCrew ballet flats
Zara sunglasses

After brunch at The Coffee Table Bistro

This bright 40's inspired print and silhouette immediately caught my eye in a sea of navy and white. The color combos were so amazing I just couldn't stop staring..
With a denim jacket and tee it was the perfect "easy breezy" outfit to throw on for a casual Saturday brunch.
I tried on several belts, but settled on my vintage teal rope belt because it really elevated the colors in the skirt.
Accessories were kept simple- just my new favorite sunglasses with blue detailing.
Hope everyone had a fun weekend!

INTO THE BLUE
Vintage blouse, Forever 21 shorts, Banana Republic tights, Guess Shoes(old)

Dogeared Neckace, Lips: Nars Rose Gitane
Forever 21 ring, vintage bracelet
This season I am really into this vintage electric blue "secretary shirt".
It is super versatile and looks just as cute with wide leg trousers and wedges.
I wanted to pair it with shorts but because it was so rainy so I added patterned, textured tights to add interest and keep me warm
Berry lips and a statement ring finish off the look and set off the bright blue color.
Loving the great bright colors on the Jil Sander runaway here

PRETTY & SPARKLY THINGS
My vanity is my place of solace, where I gather all my beloved perfumes and precious sparkly things and mementos in one place...These little things that really make me happy and the beginning and end of every day.
Left to right: Serge Lutens Bois Vanille, Serge Lutens Fleurs d'Oranger, Caron Fleur de Rocaille, Grandma's old Caron ( fragrance unknown), Frederic Malle Carnal Flower
Left to right: J crew ring, Forever 21 ring, vintage bracelets

Lipglosses, Nuxe Candle

Mini Boudoir

Regarding my current favorite perfumes displayed:
1) Serge Lutens Bois Vanille: This is my newest fragrance purchase. I bought it while in France and fell in love with it "upon first sniff". I normally do not care for vanilla scents, because most smell sugary and rather synthetic.  However, Bois Vanille, smells like a bourbon vanilla bean in a really a sexy, woody way. When the scent dries down you can also smell a hint of coconut. Amazingly delicious. This is usually a scent I wear when going out at night, or on gloomy, wintry days when I need a pick me up
2) Serge Lutens Fleurs d'Oranger: As you can tell, I adore Serge Lutens. The scents are unique and really melt into the skin reacting well with the bodies natural chemistry. Fleurs d' Oranger literally smells like you are in an orange grove in full bloom ,mixed with jasmine. A couple once told me " You smell lovely- like spring". I wear this in spring or summer. It is light but enough of a fragrance to be noticeable.
3) Caron Fleur de Rocaille:  I have worn this fragrance forever. What I love about this green floral bouquet is that it dries down to a soapy almost powdery floral. The final dry down smells like a combination of fresh cut flowers and Ivory Soap. Very feminine and fresh
4) Frederic Malle Carnal Flower: Known as having a higher concentration of tuberose absolute than any other perfume on the market. However, as long as you use it sparingly (1 or 2 squirts) it will give you a delicious white floral scent that is is not at all overwhelming. It is unique in the fact that you can definitely smell hints of coconut as it dries down- so yummy!

MONTE CARLO BABY
Today was a bit of a dreary day in Southern California.. So to brighten my mood I took a peek at some pics I took on a family trip to the South of France last fall.
Hope they brighten your day too!

CHARLOTTE OLYMPIA

Charlotte Olympia Dellal (herself) in Bazaar
Spring 2011 Ad Shots

If I could own any pair of luxury shoes - it would be those of Charlotte Olympia... I love that the designers creations are based upon 1940's glamour and old movies. This is the kind of footwear a modern pin up girl would wear complete with interesting details and amazing saturated color!  Favorites of style dandies everywhere from Emma Watson to Olivia Palermo.
I have included photos of the ad campaign for her latest line which is inspired by Carmen Miranda and "Blame it on Rio".
The designer herself is impossibly chic and beautiful -always in her signature red lips and token leopard piece.
Read a great bio on the designer in the Wall Street Journal entitled "The 40's Footwear Fashionista"

flare up

Ever jeans, H&M belt, vintage shirt and bracelets
Nails: Rescue Beauty Lounge Pink Shimmer
Everyone who knows me associates me with skinny jeans.. For me at least, I think they are literally one of the best inventions known to mankind! I think these high waisted flares by Ever are a great way for the "skinny lover" to do flares in a not so extreme way. Paired with a vintage plaid shirt (with great hints of lurex), classic skinny brown belt and vintage bangles it makes a great casual weekend look.
Happy Valentine's Day to all you lovers out there!

MY NEW BASICS

Left to right: Tom Ford Lipstick/Pink Dusk, Kevin Murphy Angel Wash & Rinse, Dr Haushka Lip Care Stick, Metier De Beaute Eye Brightening Powder and Rohto Ice Eye drops

1) Tom Ford Lipstick/Pink Dusk: Whenever I put on this super moisturizing lipstick I cannot help but feeling really luxe. Like a modern day Betty Draper without the drama...
My next color: Ginger Fawn or True Coral. A little expensive but defintely worth the splurge!

2) Kevin Murphy Angel Wash and Rinse: When my stylist was washing my hair I asked her simply: "Can I please take a taste of that shampoo"? It smells like the an orange creamsicle-  not in a sweet cloying way but in absolutely subdued delicious way. Heaven on earth for my fine, colored treated hair!

3) Dr. Haushka Lip Care Stick: I wish I could say the reason I am using this balm was because I am being "green/organic". The truth is: I love the silky non- greasy texture and the fact that it smells faintly of freshly picked herbs and orange zest. Kind of like my own private vacation to a holistic day spa...

4) Metier de Beaute Eye Brightening and Setting Powder: I asked my good friend, the genius behind The Beauty Lookbook  if she had any recommendations on how I could cover my blue(literally!) under eye circles. She introduced me to this amazing brightening powder that actually makes it look as if I got a full nights sleep! Great used alone or over concealer.

5) Rohto Ice Drops: I used to aways feel like the whites of my eyes were always a little red no matter how much sleep I got. Well until my bestie introduced to these amazing drops! They really refresh your eyes and are a MILLION times better than Visine in getting rid of any redness.

Do you have any new basics?
